THE FARM
THE FLOWERS
I’m a romantic at heart so I love romantic flowers, the frillier the better. I’m at home in a Cottage Garden full of Hollyhocks and Scented Roses and spires of Delphinium and Foxglove. Flowers evoke memories. Nostalgic for your grandmother’s sweet peas? (Can’t you just smell them now?) Maybe that old lilac bush by the driveway? Or it may be the memory of a field of sunflowers turning their heads toward the afternoon sun or the giant blooms of a favorite dahlia. They’re all on the list, as well as many more old-fashioned favorites and newer beauties.
THE FARMHOUSE
One of my other loves is old houses. I knew immediately when I stepped the first foot into the Storied Farmhouse that I was home. It’s nothing special, but it’s well built and is truly the iconic farmhouse for this area. There’s a front porch for relaxing and a back stair leading to the master bedroom. French doors, glass knobs and 2 fireplaces. Oh, and lightning rods on the roof! While I am sad to see the local farmhouses be demolished, I am grateful that this one at least will stand for a while longer. There’s nothing quite like an old farmhouse.
THE NAME
Why STORIED Farm? Well, storied means something with history, with interesting stories, with historical depth. That is what I wish for this Farm. There is history here, in this property, in this town, in this community and there are more stories to be made. I hope that Storied Farm can become a place that keeps the agricultural history of the area alive, along with the time-tested ideas of community and pride in what we do.
